Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam

Sai Gon (formally known as Ho Chi Minh City) is the largest city of Vietnam and a major cultural, economic and political center of the country. It is also widely known as a tourist city which embraces a wide range of significant tourist attractions, including major southern historical buildings and museums that had marked their existences through the Indochina War and Vietnam War. 

The museum network inside the city includes 11 museums of which the most famous is War Remnants Museum. Besides, Saigon with its architectural characters under the colonial periods are interesting enough to draw tourists’ attention, namely Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Head Office, The Opera House, Saigon Centre Post Office, Dragon House Wharf, Ben Thanh Market and Independence Palace. In recent year, the city has experienced a significant change in its cityscape as a great number of modern skyscrapers and buildings such as Diamond Plaza, Bitexco Financial Tower, Saigon Trade Center have been gradually constructed, contributing to embellish the city’s scenery. 


In Saigon suburbs, there have been various outstanding tourist attractions such as the Cu Chi Tunnels, Can Gio Mangrove Forest and Thu Duc Stork Garden. Sai Gon welcomes a great number of tourists every year, of which 70% are foreign tourists. 

In addition, the city is also famous for being a leading modern center of entertainment and leisure activities. Apart from various nightclubs, lounges, theatres, playhouses, Sai Gon also fondly embraces different entertainment places such as Dam Sen Park, Suoi Tien Theme Park, Sai Gon Zoo and Botanic Garden. Shopping centers namely Ben Thanh Market and Diamond Plaza along with widespread networks of restaurants and coffee shops are strengths for the city to develop tourism.

Contrary to its appearance as a vibrant, modern urban city, Sai Gon is a land of multi-religions. There are over 11 thousand pagodas and temples within the city area built through different periods of time. Most Catholic and Christian churches had made their appearances during the 19th century and were built following the patterns of Roman, Gothic style. The most famous and identifiable church of the city is Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral which was built in 1880, now located in District 1.
